KEIC is currently supervising one of the largest logistics projects in the Middle East, namely, the Qatar Logistics Village Project.  The construction is being taken up in phases; we have completed Phases 1 TO 4. at present, we are supervising Phase 5. 

On completion, Logistics Village Qatar will span an area of 1 million  sq m. Total number of buildings to be constructed is 121 nos. and the total built up area upon completion would be more than 415,000 m².

The first phase of its Logistics Village Qatar (LVQ) project has started operations in early 2011,  in which  about 70,300 sq m of “large warehouses”, which allow optimum storage with height reaching 13.5mts, are being developed. The warehouse areas range between 4,000sqm and 33,000sqm.

To cater to the small and medium sized businesses, the 12,870 sq m of “multi purpose warehouses” are planned to facilitate efficiency of operations and future expansion with options to expand from 615 sq m to 3,600 sq m.

LVQ also provides readily-available staff accommodation to house some 1,552 senior and junior staff, ensuring a “quality living experience” closer to their workplaces.

The operational frontlines are backed up by comprehensive infrastructure including waste water, water supply and high voltage networks, fire fighting system and fibre optic for internet connectivity, data centre, security systems and access controlled gates.

KEIC was involved right from the visualization stage, and carried out the master planning and site layout design from the visualization stage itself.  Site layout, access and internal roads, building layouts, docking design, racking design, loss prevention design, etc. were carried out by our in-house team. State of the art systems such as Very Narrow Alley-High Level Stacking Systems, advanced oblique docking systems, automatic picking and sorting systems , Tilt-Tray Systems, etc. were introduced for the first time in Qatar in these projects. GEIC was successful in obtaining required technical know-how from countries such as USA and Sweden and in incorporating them successfully in the design and construction.
